Prosecution advocate ADGC Pratibha Singh Rajput told that Ramnaresh son of Shyamlal, resident of village Nagariya of Eka police station area of Firozabad district, filed a complaint in police station Kotwali Sadar on October 20, 2021, saying that he got his daughter married to Chetak son of Harikrishna of Hathras district on July 10, 2018. The marriage was solemnized as per Hindu rituals with a resident of Vibhav Nagar Colony, Navipur. Shortly after marriage, Poonam’s husband Chetak started mentally torturing his daughter. For this reason his daughter used to come and go to her maternal home. The daughter told them that she was being treated inhumanely. Attempts have been made to kill him several times.

Father-in-law Hotilal, Sara Lakshmi Devi, brother-in-law Sunny, uncle Malkhan Singh and uncle Shriram, a former police employee, were informed about this, but they remained silent and gave approval. His daughter was about 4-5 months pregnant. On October 19, 2021, at 9:45 pm, a person told his son Surjit on mobile phone that your sister Poonam has hanged herself. He said that his daughter was murdered and her body was hanged after making well-planned preparations. The in-laws have committed this heinous crime after thinking it over. He informed the boy’s father and mother about this incident through SMS, but they did not respond till the FIR was registered.

In this case, a case was registered against Chetak, Hotilal, Lakshmi Devi, Sunny, Malikhan Singh and Shriram Bharti. While investigating the case, the investigator found the nomination wrong as no evidence was found against the accused Hotilal, Laxmi Devi, Sunny, Malkhan Singh, and Shriram Bharti. Charge sheet filed in the court against accused Chetak. The hearing of this case took place in the court of Special Judge (SC/ST Act) Rampratap Singh.
